It's a time of unrest and great apathy, looming war and vigorous denial and hedonism. Hodor Hodor Hodor murder becomes a race to stop a terrorist from destroying a city and taking the eastern seaboard with it.

The city came to life when the first colonists washed up on the beach hundreds of years ago and called themselves a community. But something in it is sickening, and the few who can see it are also in the middle of it. Randi Teller, the human woman who can't find her way out of other people's fights. Cheryl Greene, balancing her duties as an Assistant District Attorney with her duties to her fae lord. An ailing city and conspiracies of cabals, tempers fraying and teeth on edge, and a handful of ordinary people drowning in their own lives who never expected to be on the front lines of this war.

As the country recovers from the recent war, a growing resentment against non-humans threatens the livelihood of Darren and his Hellhound friends. On a weekend trip home to see his family, one good deed turns that resentment into a threat against his children's lives.
