| Máel Mórda mac Murchada is defeated by the armies of Brian Boru (Ard Ri), both men die at the battle of Cath Chluain Tarbh near Dublin on the east coast. Mael Morda was allied with Sigtrygg Silkbeard king of Dublin and Sigurd of Orkney and Brodir of Mann. Estimates say between 7k and 10k men were killed. The battle marks the beginning of the decline of Viking influence in Ireland, and Brian Boru is hailed as a hero for it. |

| The Lordship of Ireland did not encompass all of Ireland, but was limited to towns such as Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Wexford, and their environs. The Pope Adrian IV had authorized Henry II to take possession of Ireland, and he accepted the fealty of the Gaelic kings at Dublin. |

| The Annals of the Four Masters records a heat-wave and a drought. "Great heat and drought prevailed in this Summer, so that people crossed the [beds of the] principal rivers of Ireland with dry feet. The reaping of the corn crops of Ireland was going on twenty days before Lammas [the 1st of August], and the trees were scorched by the heat of the sun."
Nameless will flee Ireland at this point. |

Ireland, birth, childhood,Nameless |
Childhood |
| Nameless is born in a small peat hut on the outskirts of a village, to a scared village woman, midwifed by a lesser faery. The woman is killed by Nameless's father afterwards, in a fit of rage when he can't find the baby or figure out whether it lived or died. He assumes it died from the sheer amount of blood. This is, of course, wrong; the midwife scattered blood from herself and the woman in the hopes of fooling him. Possibly this means the midwife is also Sluagh. |

Childhood |
| The faery midwife fosters Nameless out to a woman who agrees to give up her voice in exchange for a child. She doesn't realize the burden she will be taking on; no one will have her now and she's kicked out of her village, but she's so desperate to have a child. And as Nameless grows, he will make her happy. She will teach him to sing, because apparently the restriction doesn't extend to "la la la". She makes them a small hut in the relative middle of nowhere to live in. |

Childhood |
| Nameless grows up learning to make a knife as well as use a steel one, to weave and spin and crudely sew, to build a fire and cook on it, to clean animals and kill them and also to raise them and feed them, how to tell what plants are edible and what aren't, some, how to care for people. The basics of life outside of the support of a village. |

Childhood |
| Nameless encounters a woman and stays with her a good chunk of the fall, possibly while there's a battle or protecting the East Coast against Northmen raiders or something like that. Either way, her husband's away and he does heavy lifting for her, and other services he's too until her husband comes back and beats him with a burning log from the fire, chasing him from the village. |

Culminating in one giant fuck you what can you offer me that competes with that I've lived a full life without you, daddy, fuck off. |
